BANNER COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS
The Banner County Board of Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 8:30 a.m. in the courtroom of the Banner County Courthouse.
Notice of the meeting was published in the Western Nebraska Observer. Meeting notices posted in Harrisburg, Nebraska at: Post Office, Banner County School, and the Banner County Courthouse.
The agenda for the meeting was kept current and was available during the regular business hours at the office of the Banner County Clerk. A copy was emailed to each board member on June 26, 2023.
Chairperson Darnall called the meeting to order at 8:31 a.m. Roll call showed all members present. Also present: County Clerk Katie West; Sheriff Zane Hopkins; and Road Superintendent Tom Neal.
Chairperson Darnall stated that the open meetings act is posted in the back of this courtroom by the entrance.
Gifford said prayer.
Pledge of Allegiance was said.
Agenda: Motion by Gifford to approve agenda. Second by Anderson. Roll call vote: Anderson yes; Darnall yes; Gifford yes. Motion carried.
Correspondence: None.
Public Comments: None.
Reports:
Highway Superintendent: Tom Neal reported it has been business as usual. Road Department has been graveling roads, but need to check after last night’s storm. Neal hired a new employee, Shannon Mues, Shannon will be starting immediately. The bike race was cancelled due to rain.
Sheriff Hopkins: Sheriff Hopkins reported it has been business as usual. New patrol unit is about a month from being completed. The Sheriff’s office will be audited on Wednesday, this is to keep the accreditation for the Banner County Sheriff’s office.
County Attorney: Absent.
County Treasurer: Absent.
County Clerk: Katie West reported the rope in the flag pole tore. Katie has FFA members removing the surplus furniture that was sold. Katie is also having the FFA members help to clean the courthouse basement, for a better tornado shelter. Bytes repaired the printer, she is now able to print checks. Katie’s next big project is preparing the budget with Candace Meredith.
County Assessor: Absent.
County Surveyor: Absent.
Weed Superintendent: Absent.
