PRESS RELEASE

Banner County Emergency Management Region 22:

A Local State of Emergency Disaster has been declared for Banner County.

Blizzard conditions have impaired critical power sources that provide electrical power to residents and businesses in Banner County. Impacted areas include those served by Chimney Rock Power, High West Energy, Wyrulec, and Roosevelt Public Power. Extended power outages are expected as crews work to reconstruct hundreds of broken power poles.

Officials ask citizens not to call 911 or the Communications Center regarding the power outage.

There are road closures in Banner County due to downed power poles and power lines. Officials encourage motorists to avoid these closed roads and use alternate routes. If you see a downed power line, do not approach, turn around and find an alternate route.

Officials also encourage motorists to respect the road closures for the safety of our Banner County Road Department and power companies as they work diligently to restore power and road access to Banner County.

Local Officials encourage citizens to reach out to family, friends, and neighbors to ensure their safety and well-being.

Citizens using emergency generators are reminded to make sure that they are properly ventilated.

We will provide additional information through official news outlets as necessary.
